Llanelli, Carmarthenshire: Site of first Latter Day Saint Chapel in South Wales
Description
The old Capel y Seintiau in Island Place Llanelli was the first purpose-built chapel for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ['Mormons'] outside of America. Dedicated in January 1849 by missionary Dan Jones, it later became the property of the Elim Pentecostal church. It was demolished under a road widening scheme in 1995 but a commemorative blue plaque was installed on the site in 2016.
