Description
A newspaper article from The Cambrian, published on 02/07/1836, describing the capture of a porpoise (from the description and size, we would suggest the cetacean may instead be a dolphin) below Singleton.
The clipping reads as follows: "A porpoise, measuring in length 8 ft. 6in., in girth 4ft. 8in., and weighing 3cwt., was caught in the weirs below Singleton in our bay, on Monday last; it was exhibited during the day, and afterwards purchased by the Philosophical Institute for preservation."
