Description

Discovered in the TI Ellis collections held at the national library of wales in 2019, diary was kept by Annie Hughes Griffiths as a record of travels around America over 2 months on the welsh women's peace tour.

In 1924, a delegation of Welsh women undertook a 'Welsh Women's Peace Tour' across America, meeting president Calvin Coolidge before travelling across the country, garnering support for the appeal. Stops along the way included Washington D.C., Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.

Annie Hughes Griffiths' diary provides great insight into the peace campaign and the contemporary internationalist women's movement.
