Craig owen (WCIA heritage advisor) discovering Annies diary
Description
Discovered via searching The National Libraries' online collection catalogue through keyword searches, a result for a 'peace diary' triggered a hunch that resulted in Craig discovering Annie's record of the 1924 Welsh Women's Peace Tour of America.
In 1924, a delegation of Welsh women undertook a 'Welsh Women's Peace Tour' across America, meeting president Calvin Coolidge before travelling across the country, garnering support for the appeal. Stops along the way included Washington D.C., Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.
Annie Hughes Griffiths' diary provides great insight into the peace campaign and the contemporary internationalist women's movement.
