Description
Craig Owen, WCIA Heritage Advisor, holds Annie's Diary on the day of its 'rediscovery' in the National Library Archives holdings (April 30th 2019)
In 1924, a delegation of Welsh women undertook a 'Welsh Women's Peace Tour' across America, meeting president Calvin Coolidge before travelling across the country, garnering support for the appeal. Stops along the way included Washington D.C., Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.
Annie Hughes Griffiths' diary provides great insight into the peace campaign and the contemporary internationalist women's movement.
