Description

Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire Constabulary was the Home Office police force for the counties of Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire.

It was created on 1st July 1958 by the amalgamation of Carmarthenshire Constabulary and Cardiganshire Constabulary under section 4 of the Police Act 1946.

In 1965, it had an establishment of 355 and an actual strength of 348.

The Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshires helmet as shown, was introduced on 1st September 1964 and was in use for only 3 years and 6 months until the formation of Dyfed Powys Constabulary on 1st April 1968.
