Description
Among the first printed publications of the Welsh League of Nations Union (WLNU), Wales leading peace body founded in the aftermath of WW1, this biography of Henry Richard of Tregaron and Merthyr was written by Rhondda-based Victor Evans of the Oxford Union, for the 'Welsh Outlook' magazine of March 1924 - who granted permnission for its re-use as a widespread campaigning and awareness raising pamphlet for WLNU local groups, activists and teachers Wales-wide.
In its early years the WLNU invested considerably in cultivating a strong sense of longstanding Welsh peacebuilding tradition, as a core part of national identity and culture. These narratives remain with many Welsh peace movement activists today, for who Henry Richard remains one of Wales' most iconic and celebrated 'peace heroes'.
