The ship at anchor in the heavy fog is the Royal Navy Cruiser HMS Lion. This image is produced here to illustrate the version of this event, as told by a Royal Navy Petty Officer on board, Gwyn Davies. The cruiser would later in the day suffer light damage as it was rammed by HMS Lowestoft in heavy fog.
