Our 3 girls

My painting of our three daughters was in response to the 3 lads painting, 'Chequer' by David Carpanini, from the museum. The lads reminded me of our 3 girls but they have Dowlais streets behind them and I think it feels quite bleak. I wanted to have a more uplifting picture, thinking of the contrast of our girls lives and how much time we’ve spent walking in the beautiful, green, Cyfarthfa Park. I haven’t done many portraits and as I was painting this the girls came in and told me the bits I was getting wrong, so I did have some help : )
