Sale of Kidwelly pub funds 'Mormon' emigration
Description
In the late 1840s Elizabeth Lewis - co-owner of the White Lion in Kidwelly - sold the premises to fund emigration to Utah Territory for herself, her six children, and many other local converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The method by which her husband was persuaded to give permission for the sale was unorthodox, to say the least!
