Description

This is a copy of a letter written to the station commander of RAF St Mawgan by a senior Canadian official, Commander Gerald Maloney, expressing his appreciation to two junior ranks of the RAF. The letter is dated 9th November 1977 and refers to an operation Ocean Safari 77. This was a major NATO exercise that took place in the Bristol channel and Bay of Biscay. Nigel Hopkins is mentioned in the letter. Nigel was a RAF Photographer at St Mawgan at the time. Nigel's memoirs of his service in the RAF, supported my photographs, can be viewed on line in the Nigel Hopkins RAF collection at the West Wales Veterans Archive on the Peoples Collection Wales website.
