Nigel Hopkins RAF
This is a collection of material that records the service career of David Nigel Hopkins, commonly known as Nigel. Nigel joined the Royal Air Force in 1975, as an Air Photography Operative and served until 1984. During his service career, Nigel worked alongside operational squadrons at RAF St Mawgan and undertook a four month tour in Northern Ireland, where he flew missions with the Army Air Corps and 72 squadron RAF. Nigel was involved in some notable events, including the Fastnet yacht disaster. He ended his career working from the Ministry of Defence support unit in London. Readers will view some period photographs and have the opportunity to learn a little about this often overlooked trade in the Royal Air Force.
