The building was a late 16th Century or early 17th Century residence, it contained a fine 17th Century oak staircase of four flights. At the top of the bottom flight stood a dog-gate formed like a portculis.
There was talk that Oliver Cromwell stayed in the Plas in 1648 on his journey to the South Wales coastal plain. He campaigned in South Wales to help quell the royalist rebellion and then went on to the siege of Pembroke.
