Description

This copper alloy figurine represents a spirit which was venerated as the personal guardian of the head of a household. Recovered from the men's quarters of a legionary barrack block in Caerleon, perhaps this figurine was venerated as the guardian spirit of the senior soldier of a company of eight soldiers within a century of the legion.
