Cae'r gors, Rhosgadfan
Description
The ruins of Cae'r gors, Rhosgadfan in 1999, before restoration.
Kate Roberts in 1972 in a letter to the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments Wales, described her old home which was already a roofless ruin. The kitchen (y gegin) was open to the roof and heated by a large chimney (y simdde fawr). A stone partition at the entry divided the open kitchen from the storeyed outer rooms. There was no stair, and the loft (y daflod) over the front parlour-bedroom (y siamber ffrynt) was reached from the kitchen by a ladder. An added rear lean-to housed a dairy (y ty llaeth) behend the kitchen and a rear bedroom (y siamber gefn) behind the front room.
