Aerial landscape view of Tan-y-braich and other tyddynod/smallholdings. They areremarkably well-preserved examples of a typical early 19th century encroachments surrounded by moorland, characteristic of the area. The cottages, with their associated well-preserved small field system, formed a highly distinctive and prominent component of the settlement/encroachment landscape associated with the early exploitation of slate quarries in this area.
