Tan-y-braich, Snowdonia
Description
Section of Ordnance Survey map of 1890. Tan-y-braich was a tyddyn or smallholding, an example of a typical early 19th century encroachment surrounded by moorland, characteristic of the area. The cottage, with its associated small field system, formed a highly distinctive and prominent component of the settlement/encroachment landscape associated with the early exploitation of slate quarries in the Rhosgadfan area.
