Lance Corporal Arthur Ernest Jones

Description

Arthur Ernest Jones was the son of Mr & Mrs David Jones, of Forgefield Terrace, Castle Road, Norton, and was married to Mable Davies shortly before he died. He served as Lance Corporal, Signaller 2324, 11th Rifle Brigade, and was killed in action at Ypres Salient, aged 21, on 16 June 1916. He is buried at Vlamertingh British Cemetery, Belgium and is remembered with Honour on the Great War Rood Screen Memorial, All Saints' Church, Mumbles, Swansea. This photograph had no name on it, but his niece, Miss Childs, Mumbles, was able to identify the image as 'Uncle Arthur' as it had been hanging on the wall of her house when she was young.
