Sapper Arthur Oscar Kibblewhite

Description

Arthur Oscar Kibblewhite, son of Elizabeth and the late Henry George Kibblewhite, of Spring Gardens, West Cross. He served as Sapper 121224, 73rd Field Company, Royal Engineers, and was killed in action on the 12th August 1916, The Somme, France. He is buried at Serre Rd no.2 Cemetery, Somme, France, and remembered with honour on the Great War Rood Screen Memorial, All Saints' Church, Mumbles, Swansea.
Before enlisting in September 1915, Arthur was a Building Apprentice. He had served in France for approximately 8 months before he was killed. One brother was a Sergeant in the Royal Garrison Artillery who had been in France since Mons.
