Thomas John Taylor was the son of Thomas Taylor and Eleanor (nee Jenkins) of Coltshill House, Norton. He was one of six children. He served as Sapper 19732, 17th Field Company, of the Royal Engineers, and died of his wounds on the 9th April 1915 at the Ypres Salient, Belgium. He is buried at Ypres Town Cemetery, and remembered with honour on the Great War Rood Screen Memorial, All Saints' Church, Mumbles, Swansea. His three sisters were Charlotte, Beatrice and Grace. His brothers Philip and William survived the conflict. They are commemorated on the Oystermouth Council Schools Roll of Honour, as recorded in the School Log Book in 1916.
