Autograph Book of Tom Williams and Edith May Jacquet

Description

Thomas Williams (born in Landore, Swansea, on 16 September 1894) enlisted with the South Wales Borderers in June 1915. His sweetheart, Edith May Jacquet (born in Swansea on 12 March 1898) worked for two and a half years in the Munitions Factory at Pembrey, west of Llanelli. This autograph book was a Christmas present to them in 1917. Some of the entries were written by Edith's colleagues in the Munitions Factory; others were written by Thomas' companions while he was convalescing in a Manchester hospital in 1918 (after being wounded in France) - indicating that Edith travelled to visit him in Manchester.
