Arthur Cousins, originally from Ilfracombe, Devon, lived in Neath before the war. He enlisted in the Welsh Regiment, and one day at Swansea railway station he met Annie Matthews of Treboeth, Swansea, who was returning from her work in the Munitions Factory at Pembrey. They were to marry in 1921.
