Then & Now: Oystermouth Castle
Description
Click on image to enlarge and compare the two photographs taken in 1947 and 2008.
Oystermouth Castle, Glamorgan was founded in c. 1107. The first photograph from 1947 shows the castle overgrown and surrounded by allotments, presumably originally dug and grown for the War effort.
In the 2008 photograph the allotment gardens are still in use and the castle has benefitted from the removal of much of the vegetation and repair and restoration of the stonework.
