Description

Rosabella Roberts from Mold shares her memories of the novelist Daniel Owen (1836-1895) in a digital story. Daniel Owen is considered one of the foremost Welsh language novelists and grew up in Mold, where he also had a tailors shop. He was important in the local community, as well as on a larger national scale. The audio is of a group of recordings collected in the 1970’s from people who had known or met Daniel Owen during their childhoods. The specific recording for this digital story is in English and made by Rosabella Roberts who had been given a number of items by Daniel Owen that were now part of the Flintshire Museums Service collection. Rosabella mentions these items, a scarf and a small wicker basket, but also speaks of her childhood memories of Daniel Owen.
