The Victorian years saw the development of public services laying the foundations of our modern hospitals, schools, police and post office. Pembroke could boast of a Cottage Hospital, a Police Station, a locally based postal service employing many people but in recent years these services have moved away from the town. Modern schools have replaces the old Victorian buildings.
