In February 1918 the Welsh Gazette reported that Private Johnny Davies of Abercerdin Cottage "...was felicitated at a concert held in his honour at Pantdefaid Chapel." John was wounded during the Battle of the Aisne, and died of his wounds on the 12th June 1918. He was 22 years old, and is buried at Sezanne Communal Cemetery, France. His memorial took place at Pantdefaid Chapel on Sunday 25th August 1918. The photograph comes from his memorial card.
