Description

Pre 1901 postcard photo of Glamorgan Constabulary officers. Possibly 'A' or Merthyr Division. The Sergearnt and Constables are carrying sidearms which are known as 'hangars'. The hangar was a shorter weapon based on the naval cutlass. The Sergeant is wearing two medals 1.The Khedive's Star (awarded those who had participated in the military campaigns in Egypt between 1882 and 1889). 2. The Egypt medal (1882-1889) . Awarded for military actions involving the British Army during the Anglo-Egyptian War.
