Item 1 (OYM12)
Type: Cambrian slate
Geological Age: Cambrian
Location: Penrhyn
Historic Info: Slate with sandstone layer. This makes it interesting to see, but would have been rejected for building with as it would have weakened the slate. This specimen is part of the larger story of slate in North Wales. When quarrying, it is important to understand what makes good slate, in order to decide what to extract.
