This is the Coldwell side of Symonds Yat Rock the high view point between the loop of the river Wye which you can see at the bottom of the photo and then probably 3 miles down stream where it returns to Symonds Yat East and West higher up the photo. The houses on the hillside being the west, the Ferry Inn can be seen down on the river. In the bottom left hand corner the Monmouth to Ross railway comes out of the tunnel heading for Lydbrook junction, my father worked on this line from 1936 until it closed in 1958.
