Prince of Wales Theatre, Cardiff, 1986
Description
Drawing by Falcon Hildred. Prince of Wales Theatre, Cardiff, 1986
Pencil and watercolour on paper.
A site sketch of the Prince of Wales in Cardiff, a popular theatre close to Cardiff Central railway station. The drawing shows the elevation to Wood Street. Built in 1878, it was an exuberant Venetian Gothic design with tall arches to the grand first floor. The interior was subdivided in the late 1980s and the front canopy was removed, but many of the original spaces were sympathetically restored in 1999 when it became the Prince of Wales pub.
