Two views of Pant-yr-ynn slate mill, 2007
Pencil and watercolour on paper, 30 x 21 cm
Pant-yr-ynn mill was in use in 1846 by the Diffwys Casson quarry, on a site where their cart road crossed a stream which could provide power. It was replaced by steam-powered mills from the 1860s, and became a school. Then in 1881 it was converted into a woollen mill by Jacob Jones & Son and worked until 1964, when it was closed down and the machinery scrapped. The original part of the building is preserved with its overhead line-shafting, and the 24-feet diameter overshot waterwheel has been restored to working order. It is now Falcon's home and gallery.
