Rhiwbina Garden Village taken in 2008.
nspired by the late nineteenth century Garden City Movement, Rhiwbina Garden Village Society was formed in 1912 acquiring 107 acres north of the city, adjacent to the recently opened Cardiff Railway. The first 34 houses were built in 1914 and development continued through the 1920s. 189 houses were built in all and in 1968 the leaseholds were sold to the remaining tenants. The village is now a conservation area and retains a distinctive character.
As part of celebrations to mark the village's centenary, there will be anexhibition of photographs and memorabilia at the library during the week of the summer festival in 2013.
