Description
A poster with details of the public lecture given by Professor Patrick Geddes put on by the Cardiff Naturalists Society. This event took place at Cory Hall and the speaker's topic was about the importance and signficance of public botanical gardens and zoological parks to urban centres. The Cardiff Naturalists Society was established in 1867 and helped promote public engagement with the sciences. The groups put on public lectures, events, and day trips, usually in order to raise funds. They are known for helping raise a significant amount of funding for the building of the Welsh National Museum. The group is still active today and is largely run by volunteer work.
