Description

Ingredients

a thick slice of bread
boiling water
a knob of butter
salt and pepper


Method

Put the bread in a bowl and cover with boiling water.
Lift out the bread and squeeze the excess water out of it.
Put the sodden bread in another bowl, work the butter into it and add salt and pepper to taste.
Pack the mixture tightly in a cup and then turn out on a plate.
Serve while warm.
