Description

Derek Dudley Martin was born in July 1920 at Cheam. He joined the RAF in 1938 and trained as a pilot, before joining a Sunderland Flying Boat Squadron. As a member of Coastal Command he flew patrols over the Atlantic and survived a crash at Oban in 1940 which led to him becoming a founder member of the"Guinea Pig" club. Derek passed on in 2014.
