Sunderland III, EK591 of 422 RCAF Squadron (Canadian), commanded by F/L S.W. Butler, attacked and sank U-625. 10th March 1944 off Western Ireland.

The Sunderland Crew did report the submarines position to Allied control. The U-625 commander also sent his own SOS message to Kriegsmarine control, and U-256 and U-741 were dispatched to rescue survivors. Unfortunately, the U-625 crew did not survive the high seas.
