Description
A South Wales Echo article explaining that Claire Nash, a volunteer from Grangetown, has cooked a roast dinner for 'residents' of the Cardiff Dogs Home every Sunday since September 2014, and will go in on Christmas day (with staff and volunteer dog walkers) to give them a Christmas dinner. The article appeals for donations. The article has a photograph with the caption: "Volunteer Claire Nash is serving up a Christmas roast at Cardiff Dogs Home".
Cardiff Dogs Home is located at Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Rd, Llandough, Cardiff.
"Friends was established in 2011 by volunteers to support and promote the unwanted, stray and abandoned dogs in Cardiff Dogs Home, the local authority pound. In 2016 we were asked by a neighbouring local authority - Newport City Council- to set up a similar support infrastructure, to enable them to commit to keeping safe their dogs until suitable homes could be found." They have no paid staff, nor do they pay expenses. Volunteers help with dog-walking and fund-raising. There are also some task-specific volunteering opportunities.

Help floods in for Cardiff Dogs Home
HUNGRY canines at Cardiff Dogs Home are set for a festive feast after the charity was flooded with donations towards Christmas dinner.
Last week it was revealed that every pooch living at the Penarth Road home will enjoy roast turkey and all the trimmings this year, thanks to Claire Nash.
The volunteer cook has been providing a full roast dinner for residents every Sunday since September.
Due to the added cost of creating a Christmas banquet for strays at the kennels, an appeal was launched last week.
Now well-wishers have given more than £180 to an online donations page, while Aldi's Cardiff Bay branch has offered weekly deliveries of vegetables that are past their use-by date.
Claire's story meanwhile has been shared thousands of times on social media.
"It's just gone crazy," said the mother-of-four. "Aldi have offered me their waste vegetables so I'm going every day to pick it up and freeze to cook with the lunches."
After cooking Christmas lunch for her own family at home in Grangetown Claire will head to Cardiff Dogs Home for two or three hours in the afternoon on December 25 to serve the festive meal she plans to prepare on Christmas Eve.
As well as staff and volunteers coming in on Christmas Day to take the dogs for walks, each one will have its own roast dinner with chicken, gravy, vegetables and pigs in blankets, cooked by Claire, who has two rescue dogs of her own.
Susie James, from Friends of the Dogs Wales, said: "People have been very, very generous following the story and after getting a £50 cash donation we decided to set up a donation page."
Susie said it costs Claire about £50 a week to cook for the dogs.
