Description

It was important during the Second World War to observe night-time blackouts to prevent any enemy aircraft from seeing lights on the ground, whether they were from car headlights, a torch, a house window or even a cigarette. The hood on the headlight shield allowed some light to fall on the causeway or road, but prevented any light from shining upwards.
