Elbow rest, 1800s

Description

This wooden hand rest allowed the Station Sergeant to write easily on the bottom lines of a page in the very thick Station Journal/ Occurrence Book. The forked end slipped under the pages of the open book allowing him to rest his wrist on the wide part, which projected from the bottom of the book.
