Description

A cap badge from the Bute Docks Police Force, established by the Marquis of Bute in 1865, to take control of the docks area, which had become a hotbed of violence and crime, and proved too much for Cardiff city police of the time. In 1921 the force joined ranks with several other smaller forces to become the precursors to the British Transport Police.
