Wax-over-composition doll, c.1860
Description
The doll has a cloth body, with a wax-over-composition head (i.e. the head is constructed from a wood pulp or paper based mixture, with wax poured over to finish the face). She is wearing three costumes, each successive one sewn over the previous, and she holds a three-inch bisque frozen child doll, which has a broken right forearm.
