Newbridge Pit horse man
Description
“This photograph (taken in the 1970s) is of my great great grandad., Mr Bishop. He had five children of whom four worked in the local pits. He lived in Newbridge, and cared for over 200 horses, which were housed at the now football pitch in Newbridge. He was always seen walking up over the Kendon Hill to the Forge Inn area to have their horseshoes replaced.” Crumlin Oral History Project 2018
