Born in the late 1930s in Ystradgynlais, retired London based chemist Jim Bowen recalls his childhood memories of Josef Herman in Ystradgynlais. J. Herman painted Mr Bowen’s father for ‘Miners’ the six panelled mural that was commissioned for the 1951 Festival of Britain.
