Josef Herman Art Foundation Cymru

These oral histories were recorded for ‘Mining Josef Herman’, a two year partnership with Tate Britain as part of Tate’s Archives & Access programme dating from 2013-15.
Programme activities included these oral histories.
The oral history project enabled the people of the Ystradgynlais area to be heard. Sharing their history and stories about the town, their lives and their memories of Josef Herman and his contemporaries, his life and times and where he lived. What his legacy means to Ystradgynlais and how it still feeds into the town today with the memories of those who knew him and the continuing work of The Josef Herman Art Foundation Cymru. These recordings took place between March 2014 and June 2015.

They were recorded by the ‘MJH’ Project Archivist Catrin James.
