Reproduction of a historical photograph, ca. 1901.

The scene shows the steam ship DORA, originally owned by by the Aberdovey and Barmouth Steamship Company. Returning from Belfast to Liverpool on 1 May 1917, she was stopped by the German submarine UC 65 under the command of Otto Steinbrink. The crew of the DORA were ordered to take to the lifeboats after which crew of the UC 65 boarded the steam ship, placed explosives and scuttled her.

This document was brought to the attention of the U-Boat Project 1914-18 by Michael Williams, who kindly allowed us to scan it.
