Front and back of the 'Certificate of Competency as Master' issued by the British Mercantile Marine to Captain William Davies, Nefyn, in 1891. This certificate along with other official documents was stored in a standard tin metal box issued for that purpose.

This document was brought to the attention of the U-Boat Project 1914-18 by William Davies's grandsons, John Davies, Denbigh, and David Davies, Mold, who inherited their grandfathers' documents and naval artefacts and kindly allowed us to share it.
