Items from the Welsh Tinplate and Metal Stamping Company, Llanelli, c. 1920-55

Description

This catalogue and other items come from the Welsh Tinplate and Metal Stamping Company of Llanelli. The first tinplate factory was built in Llanelli in 1846. The town was the world centre for tinplate manufacture until the 1890s, although tinplate production is still continuing today. The Welsh Tinplate and Metal Stamping Company made household goods from locally made tinplate. Most of these goods, such as baths, cups, plates, washing up bowls were enamelled. The enamelled goods were exported all over the world. The factory operated under the trade name 'Goat Brand'. The factory closed in 1978.
