Description

Every year Porthcawl Town Council (PTC) host the Jenkin Henry Tea for 20 residents who were born in Porthcawl.
The recipients from a short list aged between 65 and 95 were invited to the Grand Pavilion and were served a cream tea .

Each was presented with a certificate and gift bag by Deputy Mayor Cllr Graham Walter,Cllr Sean Aspey and Deputy Town Clerk Sarah Watkins.

Jenkin Henry was born in the town in 1833, before emigrating at an early age to Australia where he became a successful adjuster and owner of weighbridges. he never forgot his home town and on his death in 1919 he made a bequest of £200 to the then Porthcawl UDC. with instructions that the interest was distributed at Christmas.
