Berwyn Evans, the Head of Physical Education at Rhyl High School, was the main driving force for the formation of Denbigh Rugby Club/Clwb Rygbi Dinbych. He had also been a founder member of near neighbours Ruthin RFC when that club was resurrected in 1960. Berwyn was the first Chairman of Clwb Rygbi Dinbych between 1977-1980 and was President during two periods (1980-83) and (2004-07). He was a founder member of both Rhyl Youth and Clwyd Youth and was the North Wales representative on the National Committee of the Welsh Secondary Schools Rugby Union.
