FORMING A NEW RUGBY CLUB IN DENBIGH
According to the book "Clwb Rygbi Dinbych: 40 Years of Rugby", this is how things statrted:
"Berwyn Evans, who had been brought up in Denbigh and by now living in Trefnant was the Head of Physical Education at Rhyl High School. He had been associated with both Rhyl and Ruthin Rugby Clubs, where he had been a founder member at the latter when they re-established in the 1960s. He was also highly involved with schoolboy rugby both at Under 15 and Senior level and was the North Wales representative on the national committee of the Welsh Secondary Schools Rugby Union. He was also a founder member of both Rhyl and Clwyd Youth teams. It was on an away trip to South Wales, in the depth of winter, that he and fellow Rhyl High School colleague Richard Snelson who was also highly involved in Youth rugby, dreamed up the idea of establishing a club in Denbigh, and they soon convened a number of informal meetings leading to the establishment of the Club."
